NEW EMERGENCIES: SECURING WATER AND ENERGY SUPPLIES IN AN EVER-CHANGING ENVIRONMENTAL AND GEOPOLITICAL CONTEXT

The opening initiative of the events promoted by BFWE will focus on what currently appears to be the most challenging issue that engages the entire international community: how to ensure the continuity and security of water and energy supplies.
The topic will be tackled by initiating a discussion in which the protagonists of the public and private national and international organisations that, in various capacities, play a leading role in their sphere of operation will be able to explain how this challenge can be faced and overcome from the perspective of the ecological transition and the fundamental drivers that characterise it and on which BFWE is particularly focused: innovation and research, digitalisation and sustainability.ù

GRID AND FUELS: STRANDED ASSET OR DRIVER OF ALTERNATIVE MOBILITY?

The Fit for 55 package is set to have a profound impact on the supply of mobility products and services. In a European regulatory context that sees a strong push for the electrification of light transport, what will be the role of the fuel network? How is the infrastructure that has kept Italy moving for almost a century preparing to meet the challenge of the energy transition? What risks does it run and what are the consequences for an essential service for mobility?

OUTLETS FOR MOBILITY: ENVIRONMENT BETWEEN CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND SUSTAINABILITY

Promoted by unem

The fuel network is changing to take into account the gradual introduction of the new fuels necessary for the energy transition. The change will not be limited to the products and services that will be provided in the new mobility outlets, but will also involve other environmental aspects related to the redevelopment of areas and resource management, with a view to sustainability and the circular economy.

ELECTRIC RECHARGING: THE NETWORK AND SERVICE AREAS. NEW PROPOSALS FOR THE TERRITORY

Organised by Enel X Way

What are and what will the service areas of the electric age look like? How is the infrastructure changing? What approach for the operator? And the consumer's approach? How do we address the needs of urban and metropolitan mobility? And long-haul mobility? Opportunities and critical issues in an evolving sector.

INNOVATION AND RESEARCH FOR CARBON-FREE SMART CITIES

On the second day of the "strategic sessions" of BolognaFiere Water&Energy - BFWE - the path along the road to ecological transition continues to dwell on another diriment theme: the present and future of our cities, naturally carbon free.
Again through the lens of innovation and research, digitalisation and sustainability, institutions and companies together with exponents from the world of research will meet to examine, each for their own areas of competence, operational programmes to achieve the underlying objective: to make the cities in which we will live environmentally sustainable. An imperative objective that will also profoundly affect the business logic of private organisations.

LPG, THE ALTERNATIVE FUEL OF THE PRESENT AND FUTURE: ORGANIC AND RENEWABLE DEVELOPMENTS

Promoted by Assogasliquidi-Federchimica

Among alternative solutions, LPG stands out as the fuel with excellent numbers today in terms of both development and capillarity of the distribution network and of registered and circulating vehicles. But the product's and infrastructure's potential could still be better exploited through ad hoc measures that support consumers who choose LPG from both an environmental and money-saving perspective. Companies are also committed to this path of product enhancement through a strong and concrete interest in developing throughout the value chain the use of bio-LPG, as well as other renewable products such as rDME to be used in blends. The conference will be an opportunity to take stock of the current situation, the potential yet to be fully expressed, and the future of LPG from a bio and renewable perspective.

WHICH OPERATOR FOR THE MOBILITY OF THE FUTURE

Promoted by da FAIB-Confesercenti

In a rapidly changing world, under the pressure of the ecological and digital transition, Faib is questioning the future of mobility in Italy and the future protagonists of the energy network for mobility, the professional profiles needed to manage complex multi-energy and multi-service areas. The traditional manager will necessarily have to deal with new energy and digital technologies and with the management methods of multiple service areas. The figure of a 'complex area manager' is emerging, requiring a redefinition of skills and professional profiles. How are the sector and its key players preparing to face the mobility challenges of the future?

DIGITALISATION OF PAYMENTS AND SECURITY IN FUEL DISTRIBUTION

Promoted by unem

The gradual digitisation of payments on the fuel network has made it possible to increasingly increase the share of traced receipts with positive effects on the fight against illegality, worker safety and asset protection. The new payment technologies, introduced for the benefit of all, have required a joint effort by oil companies and major payment circuit players.

LOW CARBON LIQUID FUELS IN TRANSPORT: THE IMPACTS ON LOGISTICS AND FUEL DISTRIBUTION

Promoted by Assopetroli and Assocostieri

Will the phase-out of the endothermic engine at 2035 envisaged by the Fit for 55 Package really put an end to the development of low-carbon liquid fuels? The European Commission's assessment of the state of the art of low emission fuels, expected in 2026, could change the game and open the way to a different scenario, in which the endothermic engine could continue to play a key role in the process of decarbonising transport. Italy, anticipating this desirable change of pace, has already envisaged specific obligations for the release for consumption of sustainable biofuels to be used in purity, which will come into effect as early as 2023, with the aim of expanding the range of solutions for low-emission mobility. But how will the logistics, distribution and road transport sectors meet this new challenge?

SMART WORKING, MOBILITY AND NETWORK DESIGN

Promoted by FAIB-Confesercenti

The pandemic has changed the behaviour of individuals' families and businesses. Agile, remote, hybrid or smart work has redefined - among many other consequences - mobility. It is an unprecedented and in all likelihood structural feature of modern societies, so much so that recent legislation prefigures the conditions for this to be maintained and promoted further. The resulting direct impact is a strong influence on companies and workers, but smart working also redesigns the organisation and timing of cities, mobility and lifestyles. It is a transformation that impacts all companies, which will have to be managed to enhance its relevant aspects. All of this also affects the organisation of the energy network for mobility. How is the sector preparing for these significant changes?

ENERGY FOR MOBILITY OUTLETS: THE ITALIAN NETWORK OF THE FUTURE

Promoted by unem

The European commitment to decarbonisation and energy transition will lead to a profound transformation of fuel distribution. In order to meet these challenges and at the same time modernise the road network, which is still numerically redundant and characterised by reduced non-oil activity and lower average deliveries than in other European countries, unem member companies have chosen to focus on transforming 'service areas' into 'energy-for-mobility points of sale'. The network of the future that we have imagined is one that is able to offer users quality services, with primary focus on environmental sustainability, the spread of alternative fuels, and supplementary activities both commercial and car and driver assistance.
